Monster and Chips is the comical tale of Joe, a boy who stumbles into a monster diner by mistake. Joe ends up helping Fuzzby, the huge green monster who runs the diner, as he creates weird and wonderful food for his strange customers and attempts to win the Monsterchef competition.

The ingredients they use are bizarre and often aggressive like the growling cabbages and mucous mustard. The dishes on the menu are totally disgusting and out of this world and I would absolutely never want to try any of them (except maybe the chips!). They even created zombie cupcakes which wanted to eat Joe's brain, although only one cake called Cuthbert eventually survived. There's a four eyed 'cat' with tentacles, called Barry, a family of not very bright rocks called the Guzzelins and many more freaky creatures. This brilliantly funny book is packed full of hilarious illustrations and cartoons.

It made me laugh out loud again and again. If you like funny stories you'll love this!

Monster and Chips is a story about a child called Joe. He is a smart boy but there is a bully at his school and that bully is very mean to him. When his Mum asks him to go and get some chips, the bully blocks up his way and he can’t get there. He rushes to a hiding place by a spooky alley. He sees a door that he hasn’t seen before. Once through it he meets a monster called Fuzzby and lots of other monsters. The book is about Joe’s adventures with Fuzzby.

I thought the book was funny, a bit silly and a bit rude. I really enjoyed reading it. I liked it because there are lots and lots of funny things on the menus. There are two different adventures, one about a great explosion of zombie cupcakes and one about Joe visiting the land of monsters. Some moments in the book made me giggle. I would recommend this book to my friends, especially if they like funny adventure stories (and chips!).

Monster and chips is a fantastic book, based on a boy called Joe who gets sent on a treacherous quest to find the finest chips on planet earth. When Joe goes to seek the chips, he meets the one person he was dreading to meet, Grotty Grace. When he spots a sign for FUZZBY’S DINER, "TRY OUR SPECIAL CHIPS", he thinks to himself that he will escape down there, they even sell chips. Then when Joe dashed in to avoid Grotty Grace, he was shocked when he found out that Fuzzby Dixington was a MONSTER. Quick as a flash he turned around and made a run for the door, but it was too late Fuzzby had just asked if he had come for the job offer in his diner...This story will be loved by anyone who absolutely loves jam packed adventures and is 7+. It is so gripping that you will be attached to it like cheese on toast stuck to the carpet. The best bit for me has got to be when Fuzzby enters the Monsterchef competition and another monster called Uncton Slugglesbutt cheats and swaps Ethelurga’s flour for self erasing flour and puts legs on Fuzzby pie. When everyone finds out that he cheated they are outraged and disqualify him.

Monster and chips where the food bites back is amazing, if you do not absolutely love the marvellous tale you are STRANGE!

Monster and Chips is all about a boy called Joe who ends up working in a monster diner with all sorts of crazy foods and monsters, like zombie cakes and vomit burger and chips. When he wants to go to watch Monster Chef who his friend Fuzzby is taking part in he can’t enter Monster world so Barry the cat comes up with a plan. Barry disguises him as a monster and goes to watch Monster Chef. Then they find out the dishes have been sabotaged by another contestant who gets disqualified.

I really liked this book because it is funny and there is lots of good pictures in. It is also good and quick to read.

I really enjoyed this book and I especially liked the little cartoons which made me laugh. I wouldn't like to eat any of the food in Fuzzby's Diner, except the chips, because it all sounds disgusting but I think it would be good fun to work there and meet all the monsters. My favourite part of the story is when Joe disguises himself as a monster so he can go to Monsterland and watch the Monsterchef competition. It was sad that Fuzzby didn't win but I'm glad that Uncton Slugglesbutt was caught for cheating, thanks to Joe. I will tell all my friends to read this new book and I'm looking forward to reading more books by David O'Connell.

I like this book a lot because it is very funny. My favourite character is Fuzzby the monster because he serves chips with everything in his diner.

There is lots of really funny and disgusting food on the menu, the bit with the zombie cupcakes is really funny and the pictures in the book are great!

I really enjoyed reading this book and have told all my friends about how great it is. I can't wait for another book about Fuzzby!
